Greetings! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Dierdre M. Watkins. I am a graduate of Dillard University and Florida State University. I have previously taught on the elementary school, middle school, high school and college levels. This is my sixteenth year of teaching in a traditional brick and mortar school and my second year teaching online. Currently, I am a math teacher and department chair at Arabia Mountain High School and an adjunct math instructor at Georgia Virtual School.
My Philosophy
I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy learning mathematics. I also believe that it is my job to prepare my students with the tools necessary to be successful in the twenty-first century. Students need to be able to critically think and to solve problems. Therefore, many of the class and home assignments will contain a variety of real life problem situations. Communicating mathematically is crucial to understanding mathematics.
